About Me

My Photo
I am a teacher, fitness/yoga instructor, runner, celebrity stalker, chocolate lover, embarrassing dancer, wine guzzler, can't-live-without-my-girlfriends kind of girl. I also have a collection of high heels that strongly outweighs my collection of runners. My goal is to find balance in my life through health and exercise- and when I say balance, I mean kicking ass in the gym and enjoying food, wine, family, friends, and basking in celebrity news. Let's eat clean and do some craaahaaayzy workouts together... followed by a glass of wine.

Blogger Meet Up and One Scorpio Woman

Pin It Last weekend I went to a Toronto Health Blogger meet up. The amazing people meeting up all write great blogs on various things, but all have the health hash tag. Some are vegan cooking blogs, some on fitness and nutrition, some on running marathons, some on healthy baking. I wasn't sure what to expect as let's be honest: my blog is about health, but also about celebs, shoes, eating copious amounts of chocolate, and making fun of people. We were meeting up at Live Food Bar in uptown Toronto and I have to admit, I was a little scared.

Live Food Bar is an Organic Raw Food restaurant. Don't get me wrong- I love vegetarian and even vegan cuisine. I love that there are options in this amazing city and usually pick the vegetarian option if it is available to me. But the term "Raw Food" had me thinking we'd be shooting wheat grass like the chicks in Sex and the City when Samantha hits on Smith.

Somebody get me a towel to wipe off my seat, that waiter was HOT!
I checked out the menu online (I always do this! Even though I can always find something to eat, I like to be prepared) and then I felt bad. Everything looked to DIE for. And raw isn't a scary word- we eat raw all the time- from all vegetables and fruits to nuts and seeds.

On my way there I hit the WORST traffic and had a freak attack.

I know what you're thinking: 1. You look like Beaker. 2. Why the hell are you taking selfies while driving.
I finally got there, ready to have a nervous breakdown when this brightened my day:

Christina, from The Athletarian! She was making fun of me here.
We walked over and met a lovely group of Toronto bloggies and had the most delicious meal in the world!

From left: Marlie @ Barefoot and Frolicking, Danielle @ Body By Nature,  Jill @jilldelarzac, Shayna @ Oh Very, Christina @ The Athletarian, Moi, Laura @ Scribbles and Sass, Sam @ Health, Happiness and Skinny Jeans, and Kristin @ Cook, Bake, Nibble!
When I ordered the burrito, the waiter said "you know this is cooked, right?" Leave it to me to order the cooked meal at a raw food restaurant. But good God, it was heavenly.

Not pictured: Me wolfing this s#@$ down.
Christina's ridiculous waffles. That's not syrup, people. It's my drool.

I will, then!
It was really amazing to meet with like minded, cool chicks and talk blogs. Often I forget that not everyone understands the amazingness it is to write, meet people, and discuss similar interests.

Basically, we are all online dating. We choose the blogs we want to follow that we either relate with, strive to be like, or feel the need to creep. I do all of the above. And I'm not ashamed.

Blog friends also understand the need to find flat surfaces to take timer photos.
Blog friends also always bend down in photos even when not necessary.
I would highly recommend Live Food Bar to anyone, vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore. The food is amazing- and let's be honest, that's all that matters.

One thing that was interesting- when explaining the purpose of my blog, I ended up realizing that this blog is about everything in moderation, to the extreme. Extreme chocolate consumption. Extremely high heels. Extremely hard core workouts. Extremely good looking friends. Marlie gently asked me if I happened to be a Scorpio. I shrieked with "YES! How did you know?"... then realized I answered my own question.

Scorpio is a sign of extremes. No other sign in the zodiac is capable of greater extremes, having within it the potential for the highest pinnacles of human achievement, or the lowest depths of debauchery. She is passionate with everything that is related to her. It is almost impossible for her to have neutral feelings. Either she will deeply cherish or fiercely hate. If any of the feelings are not experienced, she will become completely indifferent towards it.

Really? This is the photo that comes up when I type in "Scorpio Female"? Dang.
I'm pretty sure Samantha Jones would have been a Scorpio.

1. What is your astrological sign? Does it accurately describe your personality?
Almost to a tee. It's quite scary. Not all in good ways, either.

2. Have you ever been pleasantly surprised at a food choice you had/made?
My friends at work are great bakers. I always stuff my face gladly feel obligated to eat their treats. One time there were Oatmeal Cookies with Raisins AND Chocolate Chips. I am NOT a fan of raisins but took one to devour be polite. It was the best thing I have ever tasted. Moral of the story: add chocolate to anything you don't like. You'll probably like it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to make chocolate covered corn.

  3. I am SO jealous. There aren't any bloggers in my town, which I lovingly describe as "hick." Seriously, we're called the armpit of California for a reason. :( Hello, is there anybody out there? :)

    Aquarius. Totally describes me.

  11. I KNEW we were destined to be friends. . . I'm a Scorpio too!!

First things first - I'm LOVING that yellow top and sunglasses... you look freaking fabulous.

Pretty much every restaurant that isn't strictly food I know I like I freak out over (Indian, Greek, Med, Korean, what have you) and then end up liking it mainly because I love food and if I'm hungry, something is going to get eaten!

I looove that episode of SATC... I interned in LA for a summer and Smith (he will always be known as Smith) was at a party I worked at for Clerks 2 while he was dating Rosario Dawson - and was SO NICE!! Swoon.
